History:

Moore's started in 1962 when Harold "Willy" Moore rented a small lot in Wysox from his longtime friend Jake Yeagle. Prior to the car business Willy and his brother Gerald operated Moore's Truck Service, a short haul freight delivery service located in Binghamton NY. Willy had always been interested in automobiles and trading was in the family blood. His father had owned a market in Nichols NY and a great uncle, Frank Moore had once been in charge of finding and delivering horses to the U.S. Calvary!

From 1962-1972 Willy ran a one man show with help from his wife Ruth. He knew from his first day that repeat business would be the key to his success. He always took the long view, many times sacrificing short term gain for keeping customers happy. Cleaning cars in the family garage and loading the boys on Sundays to go to pick up cars were part of growing the business. In 1972 he purchased the Greyhound Post House (present location) and embarked on a remodeling project. The old building had been without heat for years and the floors were warped. With the construction of a dirt ramp and the help of a chainsaw, he soon discovered that the showroom floor would support cars! In September of 1972, Steve (the eldest of the 3 Moore boys) started his career. Dan followed in 1976 and Tim in 1981. All 3 were quick to learn the business with lots of "vocal encouragement" from their father!

In 1990 Tim and Steve bought the interests of Dan and in 2001 Steve bought the entire interest from Tim. 2002 brought a major remodeling project. The entire building was rebuilt from top to bottom. A 3 bay service department was added and the employee count grew. In 2005 a customer asked if we could sell his camping trailer, it was October and we thought we would "sit on it" all winter. To our surprise we sold it in a week. That winter we purchased a number of used travel trailers and the rest as they say is history. New RV franchises, a parts department and a dedicated 3 bay RV service center were all added. Throughout all the growth, customer satisfaction has never been compromised. It's as important now as when we started in 1962. We are now proud to see the 3rd generation of many families that have been our customers for years.
